Decided to try out this exiting water sport for a few outings this summer. Some of the rivers north of Montreal can be pretty interesting for thrill seekers and though I'm nowhere near as daring as some of the canoeist pictured in this series of photographs, I have been enjoying the thrill of the ride down the river. My biggest concern has been keeping my camera dry… Not an easy task when you keep tipping over. Whitewater canoes are inherently less stable than lake canoes. This makes them also very maneuverable (assuming it's not upside down!) and maneuverability is really required when you're headed straight for a rock!
